His look came from the fact that Mongolia had experienced a lot of mixing between European and Asian genes He founded the Mongol Empire by uniting the various tribes between Russia and China This empire became the largest contiguous empire in history. It stretched all the way from the Pacific Ocean to Eastern Europe He believed that a man could be measured by the number of children he fathered. His harem included thousands of women and he had children with many of them In fact, due to his sexual exploits, geneticists have found that roughly 8% of men in Asia carry his genetic legacy in their Y-chromosome Some of his campaigns involved killing all members of a society – men, women, and children Some scholars believe that he is responsible for up to 40 million deaths He wanted the location of his grave to be unknown (somewhere in present day Mongolia) so his funeral escort killed everyone they met along the way Apparently he even demanded that a river be diverted to run across his grave. This way he would never be disturbed His birth name was Temujin, the name of a warlord his father had defeated At the age of 10 he killed one of his half brothers while fighting over the game they had just killed on a hunt At 15 he was enslaved by another tribe. The Cockatrice is a mythical two-legged dragon with a rooster's face and elongated bird claws, and it was supposedly borne from the egg of a male rooster which was incubated by a toad, because that's how science works kids. Narration provided by JaM Advertising New Mexico www.tasteofjam.com Good luck getting to sleep tonight folks. This is the legendary Blemmyes, and according to the Greek historian Herodotus, they were a race of headless cannibals who lived in Ancient Libya. In Slavic folklore the Leshy is a forest spirit who protects the forest, loves animals, and has a wife and children. Sounds like a pretty straight-laced guy, until you find out he abducts children and tickles them to death in his cave. Oh great, it's Grandpa's trial all over again. This metre-long deadly worm is one of the few creatures on this list which may actually exist, with various reports claiming that the Mongolian Death Worm still squirms its way around the Gobi Desert today. Imagine you're an ancient Japanese storyteller and you've got all the time in the world to come up with an imaginative creature to scare children or impart some kind of moral story. You've eaten monkfish, right? That weird, kinda sweet tasting fish that you only order when there's nothing better on the menu? But what about an actual Monk Fish? Also known as the Sea Monk, this was a man-sized sea creature which looked like a monk and lived in the sea, pretty self -explanatory now I read it out loud. Many hideous and deformed creatures have sprung from the fetid wastelands of the Jersey Shore, but The Jersey Devil has one thing those perma-tanned remedial school dropouts never will - the body of a kangaroo and giant bat wings.
